New Recurve for Mens Barebow comp...

G'day Guys,

Got all the bits and pieces together for my new Recurve...

...Bit different to Longbow and compound, was quite surprised at the amount of setting up necessary, but am quite enjoying messing around with the new project.

The bow consists of a 25" left hand KAP Winstar II riser, 70" 42 lb Carbon KAP Winstorm limbs, Shibuya DX plunger, ARE non-adjustable magnetic rest, Bernadini TFC coupling and Doinker 6ET 6" stabilizer.

I've got it all together, roughly set-up, will need to be properly tuned, but am quite happy with it so far, been shooting a little on the bales in the backyard.

Am using Carbon Express 3D select arrows, the bow is just under the 50lb mark at my drawlength (adjusted the limbs slightly to get it to weight). Will chrono it when the weather permits over the weekend.

About the only thing I'd like to change at present is a little bit more weight on the stabilizer, I think Doinker makes extra weights so shouldnt be an issue.

I am pretty excited about shooting in this class, these bows seem quite accurate!

G'day Guys,

I changed over to a new recurve for ABA comp a few months back.







Its a Spigarelli 25" Club 650 barebow riser, Kaya 42# Feature K limbs (50lb at my draw). I have changed over to new limbs since the pics were taken, it now wears Kaya K3 #36 limbs (the same as the old Tomcat limb). I found the that 50lb was a little too much for me nowadays, I dont get as much practice as I like and the lighter limb (44lb at my draw) is a lot nicer to shoot, my groups really closed up after changing limb poundage.

Recurve is very addictive, the gear is lovely to shoot, if you havent given it a try hook up on some target tackle and have a go

I went from Compound Barebow to Recurve at the start of this year Seriously , bought myself a Formula RX riser in 27 " and some 38# f3 limbs , I am shooting 520 ace's and really loving it


Just bought a Hoyt Buffalo to play with as well

Loving the simplicity of Recurve , and Loving the challenge in getting the form Right

Now all that's gotta happen is for ABA to legalize stringwalking and you guys can compete on the world stage!

These guys can compete on the world stage, the division is called Bowhunter Recurve. The confusion comes when he said in changed from Compound barebow to recurve, he was talking about using a Compound in the A.B.A. National Barebow Round. Not Shooting Barebow in a IFAA competition. Why do you try take every post off on a different direction to push your own wheel barrow and criticise about the ABA rules.

If you want to get rules changed, you go via your own club, get your club to support the changes. Your club ABA rep will then take the proposal to the Branch Exec and if the branch supports the proposal. It will be put forward to the National Managment committee. If it's accepted at national it then becomes the rule.

This may sound like a long difficult process but it ensures that the changes have been discussed with a large number of the members and their opions received either for or against the proposal.

Because the managment of the association is to move it forward in a dirrection that suits the majority of the members and attracts some new ones or old members back.

So if you can't convince your own club members it's a good idea, you need to come up with better evidence it is a good idea or forget it alltogether.

Hi Rob

Great to see some one trying a different division, especially recurve without all the extra bits on it.

To shoot this style of recurve well requires you to have very good form, particaly with no draw stop/valley/wall/clicker the ability to repeatedly have the same draw length requires practice.

Hope you stick with it even if you go through a point in time when your improvement seams to stall. Seems to happen to a lot of us. A Coach should help out as it could be a numbers of things, form, bow turning or even in your head.

If you can master this type recurve setup you will have no trouble changing to any other division, sights/release aid included. It will make you a better Compond / Longbow archer.

Im really enjoying this style of shooting, and yes it can be frustrating at times but its all good fun....

....Hopefully we will catch up with you later in the year at a Zone D tournament somewhere, my son, wife and I have been busy this year losing the trainer wheels in the backyard or at local shoots with the DDFA. Everything appears to be going fine though so should be able to do a round or two without losing too many arrows....
