You can't use a release aid with your recurve .

It must be finger release , all of the sighted divisions for recurve are Limited , hence finger release .

Iv'e just been thinking about this and was wondering is this even do-able??? I know i'd never try it...
If anybody's ever tried this just to play around or to do a road test, what happened???

Actually liam, i gave adam my BT for an afternoon when he was shooting that old green longbow. Quite a giggle really :P

I wish you could use them though, itd make for a very steady, quick shootin machine!

I am aware that release aid (the first back tension) were invented when only recurves existed...so yes you can and they worked ok as I am lead to believe.... would be fun to try might have to drag out the recurve and see what happens :tease:

Actually some of the earliest release aids were made from timber that resembled a small dum bell. A loop of string/rope was tied to one end. This was then looped around the bow string and held back onto the round timber knob with the thumb. The knob on the other end was to stop the release slipping out of the hand. The bow was drawn and fired by relaxing the thumb. This was well and truly before compounds were invented.

I'm not trying to be difficult. It just comes naturally.
