So I have been having a play with a hoyt Buffalo Recurve , got 780mm 500 spine xxx75 coming out of it with 40# limbs really nice

I am shooting 47# on my fingers

How much stiffer do you recon I need to go with 50# limbs I am tipping I will be up around the 55# mark

THis bow is going to be used for play time on ABA and some hunting

Just for interest , I shot the heavy limbs tonight and the 500 spine alloys flew nicely, I think they might be fine

I was going to say I was shooting 500's from my hunting longbow @ 48lb and had to put 150gn broadheads on them to get them to fly OK so I was guessing 500's may be OK for you with lighter target points.

I'm not trying to be difficult. It just comes naturally.

I am using 100 gn field points , and after seeing how much better the 500's flew at 50 than 40 I might get some 125 gn points to try at 40 #

Might need more than 125 for 40 pound although recurves are a little more lenient with spine than longbows. At least you have a window to work with.
